Why do you want to serve on the Board?

Last month, I became the local volunteer for the World Movement for Democracy Assembly in Jakarta. That was the first time I knew this movement exists. While talking to Ryota from WMD, I discovered that there is also youth board for this, namely WMYD.

This movement of democracy, I think, is a very inspiring platform that embodies the values of democracy to people worldwide as well as enganging the youth voices within.
Serving on the Board will be a valuable opportunity for me to express my interest on leadership and democracy among diverse youth. Living in the biggest Muslim country, Indonesia, with a dynamic life of democracy has generated me to learn and actively act.
I hope I could contribute!

What skills can you contribute to the leadership and objectives of the network?

Having been a youth activist since I was 15 years old, I take part in organizations and activities that uphold the value of leadership and the right of youth to speak up. I am aware that youth involvement in wide society cannot be neglected. I believe that youth are the present and the future. Contributing today helps the next generation.

Some organizational experiences and international relations background I have will be valuable assets for me to serve on this board. Having co-founded iFL and conducted activities on both regional and national levels means a great deal to me, and I have learned much from each of those activities.

Therefore, I’d like to join the network and share the work to create dialogue and mutual understanding among diverse youth worldwide with democracy.

What do you envision for the future of the WYMD?

“We are a group of young democracy and human rights activists from around the world who have decided to come together to empower each other and with other young activists around the world, to build solidarity among ourselves, and to develop sustainable democracy and human rights movements by empowering a younger generation in democracy promotion activities.”

Tha manifesto above clearly stated the objective of WMYD as youth platform to promote democracy values by empowering younger generation. Some points that I envision are as followings:

1. Creating a solid youth board of WYMD that can gain more and more attention from youth worldwide by promoting websites and activities.
2. Embracing 1,000 or more youth of Asia (if elected as Asia Representative) to join the movement through intensive promotion.
3. WMYD becaming a center point of democracy discussion for youth worldwide especially upon the theme of dialogue and mutual understanding.
4. Conducting advocacy activity: on youth empowerment and democracy value.
